Our Cooler
NEEDED WATER, SHARED FREELY
In May of 2017, Wes Wooten was in Atlanta's BeltLine area (a redevelopment project connecting 45 intown neighborhoods via a 22-mile loop of multi-use trails, modern streetcar, and parks) and noticed that there was an extreme lack of water fountains. Throughout this loop there is only one water fountain which is located in a skatepark. Wes took it upon himself to buy a cooler and bottles of water to pass out along the BeltLine to anyone in need. As Wes' story became more popular, people began to pay it forward by donating to the cause and volunteering helping Wes pass out water.
Two weeks ago we were in Atlanta and witnessed the need first hand as we walked along the BeltLine. Even with a slight breeze, the 70+ degree temperatures made us glad we had some water left over from the restaurant we had eaten at before hitting the BeltLine.
Our Cooler provides 120 bottles of water and a cooler as a start up to volunteers committed to seeing needs met around the Atlanta area. Since starting this project one year ago, Wes and his team have partnered with local organizations, schools, and individuals passing out over 9,000 bottles of water.
